June 5 was our fifty-eighth anniversary, and it was cold. The day we married in 1960 was the hottest day of the year and we have never had such a hot anniversary day since. It seems the early weeks of June are nearly always colder than they should be; the winds come off the North Sea and the sea has not yet warmed up. The days might be long but summer has not yet arrived.
